01What our warranty covers
Verdant Edge Landscaping LLC ("Verdant Edge," "we," "us") warrants all installation work performed by our crews against defects in workmanship for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of substantial completion, as documented in your signed project acceptance form.
This warranty is offered in addition to — not in place of — any statutory rights you have under Texas law. It is issued to the original contracted client and, in most cases, is fully transferable to subsequent owners of the property (see Section 6).
If a paver patio settles within two years because we didn't compact the base properly — we fix it. If a retaining wall leans because of poor footing prep — we rebuild it. If an irrigation zone stops working because of an installation error — we repair it. Free of charge. That's the deal.
02Coverage matrix by service line
Different services carry different warranty terms. The table below summarizes coverage for each of our six core disciplines.
| Service line | Workmanship | Plant material | Equipment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hardscape & Stone Patios, walls, walkways | 24 months | N/A | N/A |
| Landscape Design & Build Full installs | 24 months | 12 months* | N/A |
| Irrigation Systems Drip, spray, controllers | 24 months | N/A | 12 months** |
| Residential Grounds Install + plantings | 24 months | 12 months* | N/A |
| Commercial Contracts Grounds maintenance | Contract term | N/A | 12 months** |
| Lawn Care & Maintenance Mowing, fertilization | Service visit | N/A | N/A |
* Plant material warranty: All trees, shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses installed by Verdant Edge are warranted to survive for twelve (12) months from install date, provided irrigation has been maintained and the site has not been subject to unusual weather events (hail, flooding, extended drought with watering bans).
** Equipment warranty: Controllers, valves, backflow assemblies, and other manufactured components are covered by their manufacturer's warranty, which we administer on your behalf during the first year. Verdant Edge covers the labor for repairs or replacements during that period.
03What's not covered
Our warranty is generous, but it isn't unlimited. The following are explicitly excluded:
- Damage from vehicles, animals, or third parties. A car driven over a walkway, a dog that digs up plantings, a neighbor's tree dropping limbs — none of these are covered.
- Damage from weather events. Hail, flooding, tornadoes, derechos, and other severe weather events are excluded. (If you have homeowner's insurance, these are usually covered by your policy.)
- Damage from improper use. Pool chemicals dumped on pavers, a fire pit that's overlit and cracks the stone, a kitchen grill installed by someone else on a counter we built — all excluded.
- Failure to maintain. If the irrigation system was turned off for three months and the plant material died, that's not a warranty issue. Same for hardscape — a patio that's never washed and gets covered in mud is not the same as a failing patio.
- Damage from water restrictions. If a city imposes stage-3 water restrictions and your plantings die because you couldn't water them, that's outside our warranty coverage.
- Work performed by others. If someone else modifies, extends, or repairs our work — including "fixing" an irrigation line themselves — the warranty on the modified portion is voided.
- Cosmetic changes not affecting function. Efflorescence (white mineral deposits) on concrete or stone, natural color variations in stone, or minor surface scuffs from normal use are not defects.
- Pre-existing conditions. If the site had a known drainage or soil condition we documented at survey and you declined our recommended fix, subsequent failures related to that condition are excluded.
The warranty covers workmanship and (in specific cases) plant survival. It does not cover damage from things outside our control — the weather, your neighbors, or your own decisions about how the property is used. If you're unsure whether a specific issue is covered, call us. We'd rather tell you now than argue about it later.
04How to file a claim
Filing a warranty claim is intentionally simple. No portals, no forms to download, no call centers.
- Call the studio. Dial (512) 703-8291 and ask for the warranty line. Rachel or Priya will take your details and log the claim. You can also email [email protected] with photos and a description.
- Describe the issue. Tell us what's happening, when it started, and whether it's getting worse. If you have photos, send them — they save a site visit in about 40% of cases.
- We schedule an inspection. Within five business days (or sooner for water-related issues), a foreman visits to assess the issue and confirm whether it falls under warranty coverage.
- Repair scheduled. If covered, we schedule the repair within ten business days of the inspection. Emergency water issues are handled within 48 hours.
- Confirmation & close. After repair, we send a written confirmation describing what was done and noting any changes to the warranty status (usually none).
If we determine the issue is not covered, we tell you that in writing and quote a repair price as a normal service call. No hard feelings either way — most of our "not covered" cases are storm damage or third-party work, and we usually find a way to help.
05Response time commitments
| Issue type | Acknowledgment | Inspection | Repair start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water/leak emergency Mainline break, flooding | Same day | 24 hours | 48 hours |
| Structural concern Wall movement, paver heave | 1 business day | 5 business days | 10 business days |
| Plant material failure Dead tree or shrub | 1 business day | 7 business days | Next planting window |
| Irrigation malfunction Zone not running, controller fault | 1 business day | 3 business days | 5 business days |
| Cosmetic / minor Efflorescence, sand washout | 2 business days | 10 business days | 30 business days |
Repairs requiring specific plant material availability or custom stone fabrication may extend the repair-start window. We tell you that at the inspection, not after.
06Transferability
Our workmanship warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners of the property for the remaining coverage period, provided:
- The original client notifies Verdant Edge in writing (email is fine) of the transfer within thirty (30) days of the property sale closing.
- The new owner provides contact information for warranty communication.
- The property has not been modified by third parties in a way that affects the warranted work (see Section 3, item 6).
There is no transfer fee. Our goal is that the yard we built still looks right in year fifteen, whoever owns it at the time. Transferring the warranty protects that continuity.
07Manufacturer warranties
Some components installed as part of your project carry longer manufacturer warranties that run in parallel to ours. Verdant Edge administers the manufacturer claim process on your behalf during the first year and provides documentation for you to pursue directly afterward.
| Component | Typical manufacturer term | We administer for |
|---|---|---|
| Paver products Belgard, Pavestone, etc. | Lifetime limited (varies) | 24 months |
| Smart controllers Rachio, Hydrawise, Rain Bird | 2–5 years | 12 months |
| Irrigation valves Hunter, Rain Bird | 3–5 years | 12 months |
| Backflow assemblies Watts, Febco | 5 years | 12 months |
| Low-voltage lighting FX Luminaire, Kichler | Lifetime limited | 12 months |
We keep copies of all manufacturer documentation on file for every project. If you need it for an insurance claim or resale disclosure, we can provide it years after install.
